Dockland delight for MediaBase Direct

A multi-let office facility at the heart of London’s Docklands business district has turned to innovative Hampshire digital agency to completely overhaul its reception sign-in facility.

More than 1,000 people work in the giant, glass-clad 3 Harbour Exchange building near Canary Wharf which is home to a diverse mix of occupiers.


Property management agency Ashdown Phillips, which administers the building, is using the e-Reception Book created by MediaBase Direct (MBD). This provides a digital alternative to the traditional visitors’ book – and Ashdown Phillips has been utilising the tablet-based solution since June.


Assistant facilities manager Sami Salih said: “Around a thousand people work in this building so we naturally have a huge turnover of people going through reception – visitors, couriers, postmen, contractors – on their way to individual offices. “With the electronic signing-in process now in situ, rather than the traditional visitors’ book, we are much more aware of who is in the building at any time just by looking at the dashboard. “We have been using it three or four months and it has certainly made a lot of difference, especially in narrowing down the paperwork. “MBD’s e-Reception Book is certainly working for us and I’m sure it can do the same for so many other businesses. “Two other major buildings here are being refurbished and we are looking to have the system installed there too by the end of the year.”


3 Harbour Exchange is an impressive building providing efficient, light filled floors which are wrapped around an off-set central core. It is one of nine buildings, each with its own reception area. The accommodation affords stunning views towards the 02 at Greenwich peninsular together with the iconic towers of Canary Wharf.


Receptionist Emma Tansley added: “The e-Reception Book frees up my time and looks a lot better than a book. I obviously don’t know everyone coming in here and this keeps a brilliant record of all entries. “It took about a month for everyone to get used to it, but runs like absolute clockwork now.”


MBD’s fast-growing, easily-installed and customisable, tablet-based, fully confidential e-Reception Book by LEADR app has replaced the traditional, non-compliant visitors’ book in reception areas across the country.


The app – available in three different versions – invites visitors to sign in, and then sends a welcome email with vital, customisable data such as fire and safety information. After the visitor signs out a ‘thank you for coming’ email is generated.
